And similarly all around Serbia in autumns and winters (and the rest of the year :))

What is this all about?

Traditional way of meat roasting in Serbia and the Balkans, in the special occasions: Christmas, Easter, weddings, baptism of a new born child or slava.

Slava is the celebration of a patron saint. There are a few explanations why Serbs celebrate one of the orthodox saints in that special way. One of them tells that it is celebrated the day when group of families (or a tribe) accepted the Christianity (during VIII and IX century AD). The celebration of slava is unique custom of Serbs and (today's) Macedonians.
On that day (or more than one) a family receives friends and relatives at the rich lunch(es) and dinner(es); these are the days when related families are brought together, when happy and sad things are shared.
