Meetings 12. and 13. June

Oulu sightseeing

After the meeting, I stayed two days more in the northern Finland; I stayed at Päivi Mäkinen's, a memeber of the Couch Surfing hospitality network ( www.couchsurfing.com), of which I become a member just a few days before!

Päivi showed me first the history of Oulu in sculptures:

After getting to know Oulu, I travelled to the capital of Lapland: Rovaniemi...

Trees, trees, trees everywhere! Finland is covered by trees!

...known as laying on the Arctic cirle, where the office of Santa Claus is, as the hometown of Lordi, winner of Eurosong 2006...

and as the place of the Arctic museum!

In Oulu I discovered that Fins are very fond of dancing, with many people educated in the ballroom dances! Päivi took me to an enormously large dancing hall, where my flash was not powerful enough to shed enough light to the dancing mass - but you should emagine about 50 pairs dancing simultaneoulsy!

A thing I laughed at first, but seeing the effect of the thing, I started finding it very useful, is a kind of the "traffic light", where the permissions of "gentlemen choose" and "ladies choose" alternately shine

Here, at 0100h 15. June,  I said goodbye to the Finnish nightlife in June:
